We hold your balls (My Story – Part V)

Friday, March 21st, 2008

“Tired of possessive girlfriends, join the TB-M! We improved your possession!”

Yeah, ok it might sounds lame, I was trying to beat eric aka boggieman signature of “Our strikers, your goal. TB-S!”. Well “We holds your balls.” sounds very catchy for playmaker trainers. No, no it wasn’t me, I think its Ch405 who come with the idea.

Being a restless person, (then?) I make it a habit of buying at least one Gen or Pre-Gen every season. Under the guidance of GM-Strong, U20 Malaysia qualify for the final (just like toong did recently), to my utter surprise, I receive notification that Mohd Rizallrudin was selected to be in the U20 squad. What a joy once I logged in to my hattrick account, not only he was selected to be in the squad, he did actually played!!! (selected is good enough for me then).

As success breeds success, the engine of U20 Malaysia was later passed to my other trainee Amlankusum and than later Bukhari. Something that I plan to continue later…. Unfortunately, I was not able to provide the engine for the current U20. :( Sorry chestmate!

I use Hattrick Buddy during my early hattrick carrier (Buddy doesn’t seems to be developed now, so I’ve switched to HAM and Hattrick Control), but what I have really gain from Hattrick Buddy is a buddy (and rival) in Hattrick Malaysia, the former NT coach and triple cup champion, redtooth . Yup, both of us was using hattrick buddy and one fine day I was trying to get discount to ‘pay’ for hattrick buddy, redtooth appears. :) And I assisted him to pay for hattrick buddy (maybe his credit card was very close to his limit).

As many would remember, redtooth was the TB-M head and he brought me in the new cabinet line-up, errr… I mean as a deputy.

So great was TB-M then, as we have many trainers who are willing to take part for the nation. Trainers will give their budget on how much they can spend and stay awake just to jet the players they want. Bidding orders were made by the Head/Deputy and back-up were assigned in case a particular trainer accidentally fell asleep and can’t be online.

Owners of youth are great too, and will normally list players outside of the peak hours and before the training update or cup matches. This was to ensure that the trainee get the best possible advantage for the U20.

Good times will come again, or would it?

Whole Load of Changes!

Monday, February 25th, 2008

With the new season about a couple of days away, Hattrick activity shows no sign of abating. The transfer market showed a slight dip at best only to leap above the heights of TCFU’s heady aspirations as we race into a season of change. After slightly over 6 seasons in the game, the changes in fans expectation, training and match engine have gotten the conferences buzzing in anticipation. It’s as if nothing is sacred anymore and changes seem to beckon for everything related to the game with the possible exception of the much talked about but seldom attended EOS at A&W!

Some veterans of the game are advocating caution, pointing to the game developer’s penchant for getting carried away with descriptions, while the more proactive players have been diligently documenting the effects of friendly games in a desperate push to quantify the effects for any advantage that foresight may hold.

To be on the safe side, I’d recommend reading the editorials on Hattrick if you haven’t already done that. The important changes to note where the impact is not arbitrary (in my opinion and this is by no means complete) is:

- Minute based training which is in my mind more practical than “last played position”. But this would also impact players who are injured or red carded during a game…

- The impact of SP skills on wages… no more free rides there, although the quantitative impact remains to be seen (for example, what is the wage attributed to a trick

- Fans expectations – know what your fans expect and try to at least live up it or risk incurring dissatisfaction which in turn will hurt ticket sales and ensure that your arena will need to host some cantopop concerts just to make ends meet!

There’s simply too much for me to cover in one blog posting, but take it from a fairly active player… RTFM again!
