basically, defenders defending AND passing contribute to COUNTER-ATTACK (CA) rating.

firstly you NEED the defence. without the defence, CA will not happen.

now assuming you managed to defend, there’s a chance of CA happening. this would be depending on the CA Rating, but till now there’s no proof on how great the CA rating should be.

as to the GREAT ATTACK part, I’m sure many of you have noticed – I’ve been using 4-4-2 CA with 2IM successfully, by having 2 wingers with strong winger skills and playmaking skills.

from my observation have 1 out of 3 areas of attack isn’t going to help you much in the game, let alone CAing. Having 3 areas is best.

Do remember that after a CA, it becomes an ATTACK from your side. so the ATTACK now counts.

Bear in mind that having the good attack (good ratings, on all 3 areas) is not just for your CAing but also for your normal chances. holding 45% posession means you HAVE chances.

there might be no CA in the game but the defence and attack alone could bring you victory.

and lastly, don’t forget the specialists! SE’s help a lot for a CAing / defensive team.
