Stacked Wing Attacks
October 18th, 2007 by goldfriesFor those of you who dominate midfield most of the time, one interesting formation setting you could use would be what I call the “Stacked Wing Attacks”. It’s a setting that’s great to use in conjunction with Attack On Wing tactics.
A typical formation would have 2 Wingers on offensive, Forwards being normal and Wingbacks being defensive. With Stacked Wing Attacks, you’re basically bringing your wing attacks to a higher (if not, HIGHEST) level by either having Wingbacks on offensive or Forwards towards wing or both!
Why Stacked Wing Attack? Simple – It’s harder for your opponent to boost wing defence than central defence. The Stacked Wing Attacks is useful against defender-training teams, usually damn powerful when it comes to defence but having not-so-good midfield and not-so-good attacks. It could also be used in other situations where the powerful wing attacks would almost ensure a goal when a chance is given.
The most effective use of this formation would be when you’re holding midfield, or at least not losing midfield by far (unfortunately for me, my Stacked Wing Attack didn’t bring me much hope. Badly trashed. #*%&(*$&%%$…….)
Do remember that the drawback of having Wingbacks on offensive is that you lose your wing defence. For Forwards toward wing, you lose out on central attack.
I personally think that this is works best useful in 3-5-2 and 4-4-2 (symmetrical) formation where you have 2 forwards that you could push towards wing. On formations with 1 forward, you could push that forward towards Wing or have him play defensive to boost midfield. Offensive Wingbacks? They’re entirely up to you, if the opponent has decent midfield and attack, you might want to consider leaving your Wingbacks on defensive.

i m winger trainer, this tactic suites me well
playing 3-5-2, midfield dominating, wing attack boost by my trained winger n additional wingback
goals easily come from wing

I must agree to the above as I have been using this rather successfully (esp. when I’m a winger trainer).
Unfortunately, things might change post the season after. What a pity but it’s a rather good thing that HT fix this “bug” to better protect the defender trainers.
Yet again, it might be another avenue where winger trainer now makes more money as the highly trained winger (esp. those with decent secondaries) will be much more sought after.

All my wingers have formidable playmaking.

Formidable playmaking only ar?!
Mine are with outstanding PM. Uber-wingers ma… But I bet other winger trainers would have much better player skills than mine.

Not like formidable and outstanding are any much different when they’re on wingers.
